"Ella" is a small town located in the central part of Sri Lanka, in the Uva Province. It is known for its scenic beauty, surrounded by rolling hills and tea plantations. The town is situated approximately 1,041 meters above sea level, making it a cooler and more temperate climate than the rest of the island.
Ella is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its stunning natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and outdoor activities such as hiking and trekking. The Ella Rock, Little Adam's Peak, and the Nine Arches Bridge are some of the popular attractions in the area. The town also boasts a vibrant local market, where travelers can find a variety of souvenirs, traditional crafts, and local produce.
In addition to its natural beauty, Ella has a rich history, dating back to the 7th century, when it was an important stop along an ancient trade route. Today, visitors can still see the remnants of this history, including ancient temples and rock formations, which are an interesting contrast to the lush green landscapes that surround the town.
Overall, Ella is a must-visit destination for those looking to experience the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka.
1. Ella Rock
Located in the latter part of the
Poonagala Range, the 'Ella Gala' is a peculiar panoramic view of Mount Ella Gala. The climb, which is nearly 500 feet high, takes about an hour and a half, but the entire journey is over 3 kilometers.
The little Sripada is the mountain that looks in front of the mountain of Ella Gala. It is very special to have a 360-degree view of both the small Sripada Mountains and the Sripada Mountains. It's also a great place to see the early morning sun service. Apart from that, you can see the beautiful Ravana Falls which is falling apart. At 400 feet, it takes at least an hour to go from the town of Ella to the top 3 km of the hill.
Ravana Cave, located in the middle of the mountain, is about 3.5 km from Ella town. Going on foot will take you an hour. The opening stairway to the cave is located in the Ravana Cave Temple. There are 4 hidden tunnels in the area from the end of the right side of the cave to over 1500 square feet. To keep an eye on those tunnels you need at least three torches. And it's not enough to be able to crawl into the stomach by one and a half feet.
4. Face Art of 'Pulastya Muni'
This image of the face of King Pawasti Muni, the grandfather of King Rawana, is about 4km from the falls on the Ella-Wellawaya road. From the right side of the road to the right side of the road, you can see the image, which is over 20 feet high. Because the image is a small image about two feet tall and about two feet wide.
The best time to visit Ravana Falls is between January and April. You can come to Rawana Falls to take some good water and see the beautiful butterflies and reptiles. It is better to hop on a bus to Wellawaya, about 6.5 kilometers away, in 15 to 20 minutes rather than walk from Ella Town to Rawana Ella, which is 82 feet tall.
Here's a wonderful walk for those who get off the Demodara from the falls to Kumbalwela and get on a bus to Badulla. The distance is close to 3 km. Get off the railway line from Ella Station and walk to the right. Within an hour you can reach the bridge of nine arches.
While thinking of the 'clean', our 'goose' has hit the jet. Seeing that, the decision has been taken to build the rails for the mountain and the slope of the Demodara Railway Station. From the bridge of the nine arches, the Demodara Railway is less than 3 km away. It's okay to have a little conversation on the way to the tea estate. Remember to keep an eye on the train.
